It is a good idea to change the default WordPress “admin” username to something else. This helps to make it a bit harder for automated bots to guess your login credentials. You are in effect hiding your admin user from the bots.
Login to your dashboard and Add New user.
Create a new WordPress user with the Administrator role.
Log out of your dashboard and log in with the new Administrator user you just created.
Go and view your list of All Users.
Delete the user with the “admin” username.
Select to Attribute all posts to your new Administrator user. Then hit the Confirm Deletion button.
That’s it. You are done.
Now just continue to use your new Administrator username when logging into WordPress.
